Partners of New Zealand citizens and residents can apply for a resident visa based on their relationship. You can also include your dependent children below 24 years of age. This visa enables you to live, work, and study in New Zealand indefinitely.

Partner of a New Zealander Work Visa

Partners of New Zealand citizens or residents can apply for a work visa to stay in New Zealand for one year or two years based on the duration of their living together. The partner can work in New Zealand and study for up to three months on this visa. You cannot include dependent children in your visa application. Dependent children can apply for visas based on their relationship with you.

Partner of a Worker Work Visa

Those who are on work visas in New Zealand may be able to support their partners on work visas based on their relationship. The duration of your visa will depend on the duration of your partner's visa. You can study for up to 3 months on this visa.

Partner of a Worker Visitor Visa

This visa enables you to join your partner in New Zealand while your partner is in New Zealand on a work visa. This visa does not allow you to work; however, you may study for up to 3 months. The duration of your visa will depend on the duration of your partner's visa.

Partner of a Student Work Visa

This visa allows you to work in New Zealand if your partner is pursuing an eligible Level 7 or 8 qualification, or any Level 9 or 10 qualification. The visa’s duration will match that of the student visa holder. A job offer from a New Zealand employer is not required to apply for this visa.

Culturally Arranged Marriage Visitor Visa

This visa enables you to come to New Zealand to get married to a New Zealand citizen or resident if your marriage is culturally arranged. You may also come to New Zealand after your marriage if your marriage with the New Zealand citizen or resident partner was culturally arranged.

The marriage must be arranged by a third party and follow an identified traditional culture. You must get married within three months if you come to New Zealand to get married. If you are already married, you must apply for the visa within three months of the wedding. You may then apply for a partnership-based visa once you live with your partner in New Zealand.

Guardian of a Student Visitor Visa

This visa allows you to come to New Zealand If you are a parent or a legal guardian of a child under 17 years of age while the child is in New Zealand on a student visa.

Dependent Child Resident Visa

New Zealand citizens and residents can support their children 24 years or under on a dependent child resident visa. The requirements that should be met varies based on the age of the dependent child.

  • The child must be single for if under 17.
  • The child must be single and not have any children of their own if between the ages of 18 and 20.
  • The child must be single, not have any children of their own and must be financially dependent of an adult if between 21 to 24.

Child of a New Zealander Visitor Visa

If you are a New Zealand citizen or resident you may apply for a dependent child visitor visa. This visa allows children to explore New Zealand and they can study up to 3 months on this visa.

Dependent Child Student Visa

A dependent child 19 years and under can join their parents who are on certain work visa or student visa. The dependent child van study at a primary or secondary school in New Zealand. The dependent child can be treated as domestic student, that means you do not have to pay tuition for them to go to school.

Child of a Worker Visitor Visa

If can support your children 19 years or under on a visitor visa if you are on a work visa in New Zealand. Child can study up to three months on this visa. This visa allows your child to explore New Zealand.

Parent and Grandparent Visitor Visa

You can support your parents and grandparents on a visitor visa if you are a New Zealand citizen or resident. This visa has multiple entry conditions and enable you to stay in New Zealand for a maximum duration of 18 months in three years. You can include your partner in this application.
